'Development Connects' is owned and managed by Kallol Saha . Kallol is a Geologist and Rural Management practitioner based at Ranchi, India. He works on issues related to Sustainable Development. He raised more than 5000 Acre of plantation.His work on community led water security program touched millions of lives in India and Africa. In a career spanning more than 20 years , Kallol worked with initiatives supported by UNDP, USAID, World Bank , PWC, Delloitte, GoI, Tata Group and Piramal Group among others to create a’Better Tomorrow’ for the planet and it’s people.
My Story
Kallol, along with his younger brother, was born and brought up in a middle class Bengali family at Durgapur, India. His mother took care of their study and household. His father served as a accountant in MAMC, a PSU that was on the verge of closure when Kallol was in college . Kallol have had his education in Bengali medium. During school days, Kallol pursued Mathematics and Painting as interest. He completed a 5 years degree course in painting and won many accolades in local competitions. Grown up with economic limitations , Kallol was interested to explore people and places. This influenced him to choose Geology as his career choice over Mathematics.Kallol Graduate with Honors in Geology from Burdwan University in 1997 and M.Sc. In Applied Geology from Jadvapur University in the year 1999. He cleared GATE and received a scholarship for pursuing P.HD. by clearing State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) from West Bengal College Service Commission. He received a placement offer from PRADAN, a leading Non Profit in India from campus interview. His inner drive to support his family and explore people and places led him to accept the job offer from PRADAN. He started his career as a Development Apprentice from a village at Sundar Pahari block of Godda district , part of the then Bihar and Now Jharkhand. After working for 6 years, he took a break to join Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) in 2006 to join the flagship course of Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM). In 2008, he was offered the highest salary of the batch in the Zero day, but preferred to join National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), as Manager (Coopretative Services) and Head of planning and Human Resources for Jharkhand Dairy Project , that subsequently led creation of state Milk brand of Jharkhand, Medha. Kallol received financial support from State bank of India , IRMA and NDDB in this journey.
Since then Kallol has been instrumental in design and implementation of projects and programs in domain on natural resource Management, Economic Development and local self governance. He has served as a Fellow to Technoserve Inc, USA , as a Director to State Water and Sanitation Mission, Government of Jharkhand , as a Senior Technical Expert with PWC and Team Lead of Value Chain Support Cell with National Rural Livelihood Mission for Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. In 2021, Kallol established ‘Development Connects’, a management consulting firm based at ranchi, India to pursue his interests further. As part of PRADAN team, Kallol was adjudged 2nd best participant in UNDP HRD program for Non Mulberry Sericulture in the country. His team secured 1st position for project implementation 2 times nationally during his tenure. Kallol was honored on Jharkhand Foundation Day in 2013 by Government of Jharkhand for his contribution to Rural Water and Sanitation Program. He received Citizen Award for Water and Environment from ‘Prabhat Khabar for his work to promote Rain Water harvesting in Ranchi City in 2016.He was awarded Special Service Award for his contribution to Water by Lok Seva Samiti in 2021. In 2024 received ‘National Environment Service Award’ in memory of Late Environment Activist Shri Anupam Mishra, by Savitribai Sewa Foundation , Pune . In 2025, He received ‘Atal Environment Conservation Award’ in memory of Late Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Bajpayee , for his contribution towards ‘Environment Conservation’ in India.
